BOGA convenes technical workshop with Nigeria oil and gas regulators and officials
Last month, the BOGA Secretariat was in Nigeria, for a technical workshop with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and representatives from across the Government, as part of ongoing work under BOGA's Major Producers' Dialogue (MPD).
Since 2022 the MPD has brought major oil and gas producers together, with the aim of enhancing their understanding of the risks and opportunities presented by the global transition away from fossil fuels, and developing new approaches and tools that can support planning and policy for a just, orderly and equitable transition.
The country workshop in Abuja marked an important step forward on BOGA’s illustrative pathways approach, testing the data and analysis at country-level with government officials and experts. Further technical exchanges - including a follow-up workshop in early 2027 - will follow.
This engagement complements the two-year BOGA Fund programme in Nigeria, undertaken in partnership with Nigeria's National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), which is examining the economic risks and opportunities associated with the global transition away from oil and gas and opportunities for economic diversification.
