BOGA convenes the eleventh Heads of Delegation (HODs) Dialogue at the June Climate Meetings in Bonn
At the June Climate Meetings (#SB64) in Bonn, Parties ramped up their efforts to advance the transition away from fossil fuels.
Amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East and an escalating fossil fuel crisis, the Fossil Fuel Roadmap process is taking shape – with the COP30 Presidency presenting its progress, including headlines from 247 submissions to the process, representing 115 Parties. Earlier last week, BOGA convened Parties for the eleventh Heads of Delegation (HODs) Dialogue on a 1.5–aligned Transition Away From Fossil Fuels.
The HODs Dialogue has met regularly alongside the UNFCCC process since COP27, bringing Parties from across negotiating groups. Typically chaired by France and Kenya, the HODs Dialogue has
played a formative role in delivering the commitment to transitioning away from fossil fuels in the first Global Stocktake, and in rallying Parties behind the call for a Fossil Fuel Roadmap at COP30.
Last week’s Dialogue focused on how to leverage the ongoing NDC Response to advance the
transition, how to establish the COP30 Roadmap as a process that supports Parties in implementation, how to build momentum around the Action Agenda and existing platforms and alliances, and how to reflect progress at upcoming milestones, including COP31.
The Dialogue will continue online in the coming months, before meeting again alongside UNGA.
