Pacific Island states convene Pre-COP31 High Level Event on Navigating the Pacific Energy Transition: 7th October
The high-level event will bring together leaders from governments, regional organisations, enabling platforms and international partners, charting a path from progress in the Pacific to renewed momentum on the fossil fuel transition internationally.
Pacific Leaders have repeatedly affirmed their vision for 100% renewable energy and a transition away from fossil fuels across the Pacific. This high-level event will help turn this commitment into reality, building regional and international momentum for the transition, and identifying concrete next steps ahead of COP31 – including the headlines on the Pacific’s commitments and priorities, new approaches to coordination across the region, and international partnerships in support of the Pacific’s transition.
Building on the outcomes of the 55th Pacific Islands Leaders Forum in Palau, this High- Level Event will set out the political and practical solutions to the challenges that the Pacific faces in making its transition away from fossil fuels, building regional and international momentum ahead of COP31. The outcomes will help inform:
- Headline messages from the Pacific on the run-in to COP31.
- Next steps for regional coordination on the transition away from fossil fuels.
- International partnerships in support of the Pacific’s vision of a just transition.
This event is on the record and open to all registered delegates. Register your interest.
