Colombia, Inter-American Development Bank, International Energy Agency and BOGA co-host event at COP30
This joint event in the Blue Zone at COP30 will present the advances towards a country platform that supports Colombia’s just energy transition.
Colombia is engaged in a bold vision to move its economy away from fossil fuel dependency. The country is actively planning for a sustainable energy future, including the rapid scaling of renewables and electric mobility. It has laid the groundwork for a just, orderly and equitable transition away from fossil fuels.
Colombia is building the foundations of its Country Platform – one that is anchored in the country’s climate commitments and will serve as a coordination and investment mechanism to scale up clean energy and sustainable mobility solutions.
This event, co-hosted by the Government of Colombia, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the International Energy Agency (IEA) and BOGA, will present Colombia’s progress towards its just transition and the partnerships that will help deliver it. This includes:
- IDB’s support for the preparation of Colombia’s Country Platform – including the pathways, plans and policies for a just transition away from fossil fuels.
- The launch of the IEA Net Zero Roadmap Report for Colombia.
- Work supported by the BOGA Fund to support the just transition elements of the Country Platform, at national and subnational level, with a particular focus on the Department of Meta, the country’s most oil-dependent region.
Speakers include:
- Karen Schutt, Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Colombia
- Natalia Molina, Director, National Planning Department, Colombia
- Tomas Serebrisky, Infrastructure and Energy Manager, IDB
- Mary Warlick, Deputy Executive Director, IEA
- Juan Pablo Bonilla, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Manager, IDB
