Building on the outcomes of the first Global Stocktake to triple renewable energy, double energy efficiency, and transition away from fossil fuels, these discussions will highlight the central role of African leadership in delivering an orderly, just, and equitable transition away from oil and gas.
Speakers will discuss how African countries, including major oil and gas producers, are beginning to plan for a future beyond oil and gas and are reflecting these plans in NDCs and long-term strategies. Discussions will emphasise the critical role of African leadership and how international partnerships, such as the NDC Partnership and mechanisms like the BOGA Fund, can support the development of nationally-led strategies that advance economic, energy and climate goals and the global transition away from fossil fuels.
