BOGA at the World Bank IMF Spring Meetings 2025

The Beyond Oil & Gas Alliance and the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action (CFMCA) co-hosted a dialogue on ‘Supporting the Transition Away from Fossil Fuels’.

At the 2025 Spring Meetings in Washington DC, BOGA and CFMCA convened senior representatives from governments and international financial institutions, among others, to discuss their role in supporting an orderly, just, and equitable transition away from fossil fuels.

Chaired by CFMCA Co-Chair Sam Mugame, with opening remarks from BOGA Head of Secretariat Siân Bradley, participants heard opening interventions from major producers and BOGA Fund countries, and worked towards actionable next steps in the following areas:

  • Mobilising finance and support for just transitions from oil and gas
  • Managing risk and ensuring macroeconomic stability through the transition
  • Addressing structural barriers to the transition away from fossil fuels

Participants highlighted the need for analysis and capacity building, and enhanced coordination between finance ministries, central banks, and regulators, with support from BOGA and CFMCA.
