The Beyond Oil & Gas Alliance and the European Commission co-hosted a Ministerial Dialogue on accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels, alongside the UK IEA Future of Energy Security Summit.

Chaired by the European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, with opening remarks from UK Secretary of State for Net Zero and Energy Security, Ed Miliband, the dialogue focused on the cost of fossil fuel dependence, and on the urgency of the global transition away from fossil fuels, in order to secure our collective climate, energy, economic and national security.

Ahead of the UK IEA Summit’s closing plenary, Ministers agreed on the need for strengthened collaboration and communication on the economic benefits of the transition, for enhanced coordination between producers and consumers to reduce uncertainty and volatility, and for progress toward an orderly, just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels to be reflected in the COP30 process.
